What is this CBD thing?

So obviously looots of people are a bit confused about what CBD is. CBD comes from Cannabis. Sounds crazy? Well, it doesn't have to be.;) People have been using the cannabis plant for ages, so really, nothing new about that. But thanks to Kim Kardashian, who in 2019 had her CBD-themed birthday party for one of her kids, it was given a little more attention than before. To speak mildly.:) 

--Why CBD?

CBD can be calming, hydrating, anti-inflammatory, balancing and soothing. That's why your skin & body loves it so so soooo much. 

--What are the different types of CBD?

CBD Isolate is CBD in its purest form thanks to an extraction process that isolates the CBD from all the other cannabinoids in the hemp plant, hence the name. CBD Isolate has absolutely no taste.

At the opposite end of the scale is Full Spectrum CBD which contains CBD plus all the other cannabinoids from the plant. Having more cannabinoids in your CBD oil is preferred by many thanks to something called the “Entourage Effect”. This essentially means that all the cannabinoids work together to increase how well the CBD works, something which Isolate cannot deliver by itself.

One thing to be aware of with Full Spectrum CBD is that it includes THC – the psychoactive cannabinoid responsible for getting you ‘high’.

Broad Spectrum CBD oil is much the same as Full Spectrum CBD, but with virtually all of the THC removed, meaning there is no risk whatsoever of any unwanted psycho-active effects in most cases. Broad Spectrum also delivers a cleaner looking and milder tasting CBD oil.

--What is CBD?

CBD (or cannabidiol) is one of over 100 naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. 

CBD is derived from the Cannabis plant. The Cannabis plant consists of 100+ different components where maybe the most famous OR infamous component is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), this component is what makes you high and what most of us think of when it comes to Cannabis / Marijuana.
CBD is the second most prevalent active ingredient from the plant and is known to have very positive effects for both body and soul though without the negative aspects that are associated with THC. CBD skincare products can be sold and used in Sweden as long as they don't include THC. CBD skincare products are known to have positive effects through its calming and anti-inflammatory properties being very positive for day to day usage. CBD in general is a very exciting ingredient that we are starting to see in more and more products. 

--I don't know much about skincare - what is the one thing I should know?

It’s a good idea to change your skincare routine a bit along with the seasons. You probably put on different clothing now than in July, so it does make sense to have a similar approach to skincare. Winter skin needs a bit more tender and care - the air is dryer and colder.
